In the end we have the reality of a book as the reality of the world and the reality of history.

Crosscultural Hub

The Intercontinentalia hub, which belongs to the Vienna Academic Press (Wiener Verlag), offers new stimuli in the wide field of crosscultural sciences and non-fiction. The worlds of reality and the realities of the world are the focus of a whole range of international approaches. Let yourself be inspired!

Vienna Academic Press (Wiener Verlag)

Vienna Academic Press is the further development of a long-established publishing house, the Wiener Verlag, which was founded in 1899 and initially existed until 1929. Already after the end of the Second World War, there were efforts to revive the publishing house.

In 1998, the focus shifted towards crosscultural science and non-fiction. One hundred years after the first founding of Wiener Verlag, the European University Press was established in Oxford and Bremen. From it, the new Wiener Verlag emerged as an imprint in 2012. In 2016, it was spun off together with the internationally oriented “Vienna Academic Press.” Since then, the publishing house has operated as an independent entity with a focus on academic works and non-fiction, especially humanities, social sciences and cultural studies. In 2023, Intercontinentalia was born – a new platform for crosscultural books.

The company enjoys a reputation for publishing high-quality books that are both informative and engaging. Vienna Academic Press (Wiener Verlag) remains a major player in the Austrian publishing industry, offering dedicated scholars a publishing platform that is both serious and innovative.

Vienna, City of Science

People around the world associate the Austrian capital with music and the fine arts. In addition, Vienna is a city that has provided groundbreaking theories to the world of science. The scholars of the “Vienna Circle” lent the structures of logic to empiricism in order to get a better grasp of reality. Others like Sigmund Freud, Paul Lazarsfeld, Konrad Lorenz, Ludwig Wittgenstein, Martin Buber and Joseph Schumpeter helped to shape the way we look at the world today. One hundred years later, Intercontinentalia wants to reach out from Vienna and create a worldwide network of knowledge.
